Tips to recreate delectable food from party leftovers

We are always throwing party every now and then. Weekends or weekdays, every day is a fun filled event. We get a chance to meet our friends, revive our relationships and gorge on some lip-smacking dishes. But there are so many times that we often are left with some party scraps and leftovers; especially food.

I am one of those who doesn’t like to waste food and I would rather save the stuff to hog on the other day. This time, at one of my parties recently, I had lots of leftovers behind. Not only just pizzas and chips, but Tandoori chicken and fried fish too. I was not letting go of it at any cost.

So I decided to recreate my boring leftovers into something new infusing my taste and kitchen essentials. Take a look of how I refashioned my food into new delicious items:

•    Chicken sandwich: Sandwiches are easy and tummy filling. This sandwich was absolutely a hit I had it. I sautéed my leftover tandoori chicken in some olive oil, added lots of herbs and seasonings. Concurrently, I cheese toasted my wheat bread and spread the teriyaki sauce on the base. I took the chicken and diced them into multiple pieces and placed them in the whole wheat bread. If you want, you could also put some chipotle sauce in the sandwich for more creamy palate.

•    Salads: Salads are often akin to the health conscious people. Prepare a basic salad consisting of fresh veggies – lettuce, capsicum, tomatoes and onions. But make it more exciting and delightful by putting in chunks of fish and chicken breasts, sprinkled in oregano and chilli flakes. Put in the chips to give a more crunchy taste. Don’t forget to top it up with the vinaigrette dressing for a scrumptious tang.

Make an extra effort and enjoy your leftovers as never before!

5 Food Items to Eat on the Go!

“One cannot think well, love well or sleep well, if one has not dined well.” –Virginia Woolf

Queen of words and the literary world, Virginia Woolf captured the essence of food beautifully and weaved it in the simplest yet profound words. But with the world moving at a faster pace, people barely get time to eat properly, which is also one of the key reasons why city dwellers have more diseases and less life expectancy rate. And considering that breakfast is one of the essential meals of the day, it is important for everyone to eat their first meal to avoid a crappy day ahead. Here are 5 items you can eat while commuting –

•Paranthas – Considered the staple Indian breakfast Paranthas, on which every Indian swears, can never leave anybody unhappy and hungry. It is hands down the most filling and amazing breakfast option. It is unhealthy due to excess of oil and butter used for its preparation, but one can choose to eat dry paranthas with onion, cottage cheese, potatoes or peas as the stuffing, with hint of pickle in the middle, rolled tightly.

•Calzone Pockets – We know the universal love for pizza and the undying craving to have it every day. But eating pizzas while driving or commuting is completely out of the question. Hence one can have its estranged cousin – the calzone pocket which is easy and yummy to eat. Doughy on outside, with enormous space for fillings inside, calzone is definitely your commute buddy.

•Wraps – This is one of the most obvious, filling and extremely nutritional (only if you do not load it up with gallons of cheese). You can go for a smaller, tightly rolled wrap, wrapped in a foil paper. You can fill it up with nutritional goodness by selecting delicious picks such as Greek feta, peri peri hummus, iceberg lettuce, chicken, low fat mayo, peppers, and olives and top it up with sweet chilli sauce with veeba.

•Bun Omlette – Another delicious and interesting pick, bun omelette is two worlds meeting to give you the delight of sumptuous breakfast that is not only delicious but nutritional!

•Sandwiches - Be it a sub or a traditional sandwich, they can fix up your day by keeping you filled up, and is also considered a healthy option (again, if you do not load it up with crap)! Fill up the sandwich with freshly cut veggies, low fat mayo, and toast it.
Voila! You are good to go.
